Between Words is a free word game in which you find a hidden word by moving through the alphabet. At first all you know is that it lies somewhere between A and Z. Type any word: if it comes before the hidden word in the alphabet, it flies up and becomes the new top boundary; if it comes after, it drops down and becomes the bottom one. The boundaries close in until only the hidden word is left between them.
Below the board you always see which two words the hidden one sits between, and the input shows which boundary it is closer to. On Easy the input stands exactly at its place, on Medium and in the game of the day roughly, and on Hard always in the middle, with longer and rarer words. A word that doesn't exist or falls outside the boundaries doesn't cost an attempt. You get 10 attempts on Easy and Medium and 12 on Hard.
For a bigger challenge, turn on free length: the number of letters in the hidden word stays secret and you can type words of any length. Easier to type, harder to guess, so you get more attempts. If you get stuck, two hints can help: Halfway sets a new boundary in the middle, and Show the alphabet highlights the range where the next letter lies. Each works once per game.
